My Approach

I believe that everyone is capable of change and growth.  I work collaboratively with clients and truly value the relational aspect of therapist and client. Not only am I providing a warm and supportive environment for clients, but also allowing room for a humorous spirit while diving into difficult experiences and topics.  Ultimately, my approach is tailored to fit each unique client's needs. 

I believe in approaching mental health from a holistic perspective, looking not only at the emotional and behavioral, but at the physical and social aspects of a person's life. I have an integrative style, drawing from relational and existential philosophies which include:

  • Gestalt Therapy 

  • Mindfulness 

  • Narrative

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Interal Family Systems (IFS)

 

These particular approaches highlight the importance of being present with the physical and emotional state and working towards acceptance and understanding of those feelings and sensations.  In addition to better understanding our attachments and how those experiences play out in our relationships, finding acceptance with parts of ourselves is another crucial piece of the work we will do together. Through that awareness we move towards challenging and shifting unhealthy patterns.  You want to feel empowered and confident in managing the experiences you encounter and choices you make, and I want to help you find that.
